While both high schools have a higher four-year graduation rate than the NC state average, Mint Hill also offers outstanding athletic programs. Independence High School holds a national record for the most consecutive wins in U.S. public high school football history. From 2000-2007, the football team won 109 back-to-back games and 6 state championships with several players being drafted by the NFL. Independence High has also achieved state championship titles from their softball, basketball, and volleyball teams.

Mint Hill’s close-knit, family-friendly community is among the safest in North Carolina. During Mint Hill’s Family Fun Nights, the community gathers for nights of delicious food, concerts, movies, and a back to school pep rally.

One of the most popular events is Mint Hill Madness, celebrating the founding of the town. This is a festival held at Mint Hill Veterans Memorial Park, located across from the North Carolina Korean War Memorial.
